Monday, August 6, 21:07 p.m. - an epiphanic moment! I have finally decided what to take after high school:

photography

Mind, I ask of you but one thing: please do not sway.

This has been rather enlightening. I will worry about "job opportunities" another time hopefully further into the future, unlike my mother who is telling me to think of job opportunities now. Please, if I am going to be studying One thing for four years, then I am sure as hell I am going to make it something I love and will not grow tired of.

On a heavier note, the hope of having the presence (read: ART SCENE) of Europe (only a few weeks ago my parents were hell bent on heading off to the Netherlands) around as distraction (leaving is always the bitch) has vanished, as of this week the Country of Choice is New Zealand, the land of cows and mountains (and green hills? I should stop abusing the parentheses).

I bought a new book last weekend, I hope I find time to read it soon, for some reason I feel busy although I am procrastinating (homework-wise) to the maximum extent, I should never ever blog spontaneously (as in in the Compose Blog Entry box, like right now) again, I have spray-painted my school file (green) with the word "illuminate" (my favorite word, can you tell how much fun I am having with the parentheses? Any confusion caused is... uh, regretted I guess), I need new music to listen to, I miss Grey's Anatomy, I would like to be able to verbally speak like I mentally speak, Oskar what if our brains had microphones?

  1. yay to photography. it's the best.. go for it. i would if i didn't have a calling to be a doctor. well, it will be a hobby i won't be tired of.

wow new zealand?! GREAT!!! that's a great place, adi! if you stay there long enough maybe in 10 years or so, i'll visit you. and fiji would just be around the corner. i've got relatives who own the only hospital in one of the islands. i would like to spend some time there, if possible.

yay no class today! hehehe.. gives me time to catch up on work.

  2. haha, well my mom's overseas assignments only last 6 years. but they're anticipating that i find a life there and stay on after it. i wouldn't know right now, but anyway!

hmmm what have you heard about new zealand? because the only positive things i've been hearing... well they only fit the go-there-for-vacation kind of thing. and i've heard the schools aren't that fantastic. yes yay for photography indeed!

we didn't have classes yesterday too, did you? mwahaha. the funny thing is it hasn't even rained today. it's just cool. i am catching up on... having nothing to do. i am really bored right now O__O

  3. i'll be done in 8 years. hehe.. well.. that's 3 years here in the philippines, one year in "i don't know where" then 4-5 years in the US.

well, i've never been there but from watching discovery travel and living, it looks like a nice place. it's quite quiet i think. there's a lot of untouched nature. there were some backpackers from a show that i watched and they have a pretty modern and eclectic variations in music. it's pretty happening but not in a commercial way. school.. hmm... i don't really know but i had a classmate who went to architecture school there. haven't heard about her experience. surf the web, check out schools of art over there. it might be better if you could have a bachelor's degree in art then concentration is on photography. it would be good for future job hunting.

we had class yesterday. bummer. they only declared elementary and high school. so, college and up had classes. then today they said primary, secondary, and tertiary but i wasn't sure if we're included in that coz we're considered post-graduate. sometimes even if college doesn't have class, we still have. but today, we don't!! yay!!

  4. that's the thing. that peace and quiet, i don't think i can handle that. i want to be someplace busy, i want to go home at night exhausted but satisfied."happening but not in a commercial way" sounds intriguing though, what do you mean?

every time my mom's on the computer she gets me to check out the courses and schools. as of yesterday, this is mine. photography isn't under art, eh. after that i actually want to take up bachelor of arts in english hahaha my parents think i'm crazy. they said minor in one of them, but i wouldn't hear of it - i take something, it's all the way.

  5. go for your dreams adi. if there was one thing i would've wished i had the guts to do when i was your age, it was to pursue my original dream. to be a musician/songwriter/poet. i allowed myself to be swayed by the outside world's opinion. most of all, ASK GOD to bless your desires so that it bears fruit. :-) hoping to go to fully book with you soon.

  6. yes, i am. :)
my parents don't really want me to major in photography. which made me a bit sad because they're supposed to be supportive and whatever. but yeah. i really want to do this so i'm going to forget about everything else, including the fact that i am terrified i might screw up.

i hope i actually SEE you soon, fully-booked-trip or not. if we get to go before august 31, my starbucks vouchers will still be valid heh heh. I'VE ACTUALLY BEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on saturday!!! it was amazing. but i didn't get to stay long because i was with other people. sad thing is they don't keep a sample copy of the art books out on the shelves. all that damn plastic. :(

  7. hey sorry just now. i checked out the link and that looks like a great degree! wishing i was in high school again where i could decide what degree to take. well, though med school is difficult and makes me wanna leave it especially when it gets stressful, i think i wanna stick through with this. i think everything will pay off at the end. i just have to work my ass off and wait.

happening meaning it's pretty cool, fun, and artsy but not in a shiny, flashy, neon clad way. it has a bohemian, indie feel from what i saw on the show. getting to know your taste in music, movies, reading.. it seems like you're going to blend in. i'm just guessing. :P

  8. Yes, definitely before August 31. :-) Have you tried surfing StumbleUpon.com? I run into a lot of artwork there. I also found this really cool gallery in pbase.com my friend suggested I check out. Look at this http://www.pbase.com/annapagnacco/in_my_mind and another http://www.antilimit.com

  9. i haven't heard of stumbleupon... i'll check it out. antilimit is awesome! i didn't fancy the obvious computer editing but the rest (in the later years, i noticed. it's fun to see how a portfolio improves like that) were great.

ah! you'll love this. and if you want to laugh a little, go here.

  10. i think being in the medical field is amazing, especially because you get to help so many people. that's another thing i really want to do, but med school is just not my cup of tea, more so in the long run. it'll definitely be worth it, meggie :)

hmmmm that sounds interesting about new zealand, i'm going to look into this now!
